TECT election candidates 2014

Candidates seeking one of three places up for grabs on the Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust board this year are now in campaign mode.

The TECT Trust is administered by six trustees, with three trustees retiring by rotation every two years – giving each trustee a four year term.

Each of the candidates' profiles is accessible on the following link.

There are 19 candidates vying for this year's public vote to join returning trustees Bill Holland, Bruce Cronin and Ken Collings.

They will replace the three retiring trustees are Michael Cooney, Dame Susan Devoy and Ron Scott, with Ron the only candidate seeking re-election in this year's vote.

To help readers make the right choice, SunLive will provide coverage throughout the election process, beginning with candidates' profiles, listed below.

To keep things fair, SunLive asked each candidate to provide a supplied profile piece no more than 200 words long, and a photograph.

All TECT consumers are eligible to vote for the trustees, with voting papers mailed out to approximately 53,000 eligible voters on June 30.

The election will close on Friday, July 25, 2014, after a three week voting period.

In keeping with the TECT ethos why don't candidates pledge their $16,000 p.a. plus $200 per meeting back to TECT like they ask customers to do with their dividend?

Hmmm well the decision is not about "choice" but picking the best of a odd bunch.

Here's a thought. In keeping with the TECT ethos why don't candidates pledge their $16,000 p.a. plus $200 per meeting back to TECT like they ask customers to do with their dividend?

Very fair question, I can't see them doing it but such is life, the world and the universe I guess.

Come on if they are doing a good job then pay them. my concern is that some of them may front organisations that also apply for grants.
