Mount clothing business burgled

A Mount Maunganui couple are counting the loss of almost $15,000 worth of car parts and clothing for their online business after their home was burgled this week.

Clothing branded DGA hoodies, singlets, crew necks and t-shirts were stolen from Brandi Buchanan and Hayden Kirkwood's sleepout on April 29.

Jokers Wild Kustoms owner Brandi Buchanan, wearing a DGA jumper, is on the lookout for her stolen goods.

The sleepout is where they run their online business selling clothing under the name Jokers Wild Kustoms.

The incident occurred while the couple were at work.

'My partner got home at 4.30pm and the double-doors at the sleepout had been wrenched open,” says Brandi, who says she is 'absolutely gutted”.

'A few neighbours heard our dogs at approximately 2pm,” adds Bandi.

As well as clothing sold through the pair's online business a number of personal items including a hydraulic kit, hydraulic parts, airbag parts, wheels, subs and amps were also taken.

The Mount Maunganui Police forensic team has told the couple the burglar was wearing gloves and no fingerprints were available.

Detective Senior Sergeant Deirdre Lack says at this stage the police have no lines of inquiry and are waiting for further information.

No cameras are installed at the couple's home, but Brandi says they 'will soon have them” following the incident.

They are doing all they can to find the products, such as trawling through local Trade Me listings.

'We also went to Bayfair last night just hoping we'd see someone wearing the product.

'We're the only New Zealand supplier of DGA products so it's very easy to spot when you see it.”

The owners are unsure of exactly how much stock was stolen and plan to do a thorough stocktake this weekend.

Anyone with information on the burglary is asked to contact Mount Maunganui Police on 575 3143.
