Rudd cleared on CAA charge

Rudd was accused of falsely filling out the medical questionnaire for his private pilot's licence by failing to mention his previous drug use.

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd in Tauranga District Court this week.

He pleaded not guilty in a judge alone hearing in Tauranga District Court this week.

In delivering his decision this afternoon, Judge Louis Bidois says there is not enough evidence to convict on the standard of proof required, which is beyond all reasonable doubt.

He dismissed the first charge laid by the Civil Aviation Authority.

On a charge of failing to maintain a logbook Rudd pleaded guilty and was fined $750, plus $150 court costs.

Surely a joke...?

Here is an individual who admits that he did not have a log book (therefore didn't maintain one) and he basically gets a smack on the hand for the offence! Try not having a log book as a bus or truck driver and see what the consequences are. Log books for pilots are an essential item for safety and yet Rudd didn't bother having one.
