Why fund Hapu/Iwi?

Towards the bottom right of page six of your last issue is a small item ‘Iwi/Hapu management plans' (The Weekend Sun, September 20) about funding up to $30,000 to 'support development of the iwi/hapu management plans”. What on earth is this all about?
Why do they need special payments and why can't they use money from the colossal full and final settlements of their Waitangi claims.
Can I get financial help in planning the management of my immediate and extended family matters? I bet not.
Could the Mayor please advise the reasoning behind this, and tell us how much more of our funds is to be wasted in the future.

I applied

I applied for this fund through TCC, explaining that I also have aspirations etc but am not a maori. I was told there are other ways I can get money through normal funding. I replied "why can't maori?" I was denied this racist funding obviously because of my non-maori second class citizenship. I am deeply offended by TCC's racist attitude.

Guess what cap,n

Obviously you do not believe in equality, a fundamental aspect of democracy. Shame on you and your greed. Your true greedy colours are there for all to see now, so thank you for making it easy for me to prove what sort of person you are.

Greedy? cap'n,

Good letter, but, wrong questions Robin Osborne, with the election coming up we need to know who in council was involved with this, as in who recommended it, nudge, nudge, wink, wink, some one here has a connection, if you know what I mean, who in council was involved with this, they should be proud as punch to put their hands up so we can vote for them, ask around campers!!!!.
