Hobbit gold for police auction

Final details are in place for the 2013 Tauranga Police CIB Charity Auction with one item being dubbed 'the gold prize”.

The auction, at the ASB Arena on September 27, will feature 138 items for auction including a Peter Jackson world premiere of ‘The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug' package.

This includes two tickets to the premiere in Los Angeles in December with return Air New Zealand flights and two nights' accommodation at Manhattan Beach Marriott and Golf Club in Los Angeles.

Tauranga Police CIB Charitable Trust trustee, Detective Sergeant Pete Blackwell, says the item is 'gold” because the tickets are not available anywhere else.

There is also an $8000 ride-on lawn mower from Kubota New Zealand and a $20,000 Fiat car from Farmer Motor Group.

Pete is now encouraging people to register their interest in the car before the auction.

'People who register on our website will be given three years' free service for the car if they buy it.
'It's just an extra carrot we have, from Farmer Motor Group, to get people interested.”

Pete says there are also other amazing items up for auction.

One item up for auction is a signed New Zealand ‘Dream Team/All Stars' rugby jersey.

'There are only three of these jerseys in existence, the other two are owned by Sir Gordon Tietjens and the NZRFU. But this is the only one of the three that includes the signature of Sevens and All Black legend, Jonah Lomu.”
There's also hunting packages for the guys and an ultimate ‘girl's day out' package for women.
'You and a friend will be picked up in a chauffeur-driven luxury car and start your day with a pilates class followed by a beauty session,” says Pete.

'Enjoy morning tea at Back Porch Cafe in the Mount, then have your hair cut and styled at CHS, your make-up done at Sisters and then a photo shoot at Bob Tulloch's studio.”
Pete says the ladies will also have more than $1000 worth of gift vouchers to use at Downtown The Mount with more than $1000 worth of vouchers up for auction.
