Inside look at mega cruise ship

If you noticed a large shadow encumbering Mount Maunganui yesterday you needn't fear – it was the 15 deck Voyager of the Seas docked for the day at the Mount's port.

Mount Maunganui House of Travel consultant Bobby Lea MacDonald was lucky enough to spend the day on board the biggest cruise ship to dock in Tauranga.

The 137,270 tonne mega-liner features indoor basketball court, 10 swimming pools, whirlpools, 14 bars, a rock climbing wall, golf simulator and an indoor designer shopping promenade.

Bobby was particularly impressed by the indoor skating rink which hosts professional pre-dinner shows as well as leasing skating equipment for guests.

The 3000 guests on board docked at Mount Maunganui yesterday from 6am to 6pm. The ship first visited Tauranga on November 29.

As a pianist I'd be interested to see if you saw a piano. Online it shows there is a blue grand piano in an atrium. http://voyager-class.com/pictures/publicspaces/04_lobbybar/gallery.html

Caberet overdose. No wonder they all tumble offboard like demented zombies. Milk them dry.

Wow! That looks amazing. We met a lovely Australian family from the ship on the beach that day. Hard working folk enjoying a holiday. Study hard kids and reap the rewards.

No. The thought of spending weeks jammed in on a ship with 3000 others with 3rd rate "entertainers", crowded swimming pools and a selection of tacky shops and bars leaves me with no jealousy at all. I don't think you would be rewarding kids by sending them on a cruise. Study hard and visit countries independently rather than being cocooned on a floating holiday camp. Nice ship though. I admire the feat of engineering but the concept stinks.

whatever takes your fancy

I have no interest in going on a cruise but that's my choice .It wouldn't do if we all thought the same.

so much negative comments, going on a cruise isnt on my wish list but many of my family have been for a 2week cruise on a number of these Ships around the Pacific Islands and Loved it. Swimming, snorkeling, Sun, and Happy people.
