Truck roll: SH2 now closed for vehicle recovery

"Due to a truck roll just west of Kaikokopu Rd, SH2 is now fully closed between Maniatutu Rd and SH33 Roundabout for around 3-4 hours to enable vehicle recovery," says an NZTA spokesperson.

"Plan ahead or allow extra time for detour."

A section of State Highway 2 will be closed later this morning after a truck has rolled near Pongakawa.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi is advising people to use caution in the area.

"Due to a truck roll just west of Kaikokopu Road, caution is advised in the area.

"This section of SH2 will require temporary full closure to enable vehicle recovery later this morning (from about 9am or 10am).

"Plan ahead or allow extra time for detour."

Police comment

"About 6am today, Police were called to State Highway 2, Pongakawa, after a forklift ended up in water," says a police spokesperson.

"The incident happened between Mends Lane and Te Puke East Road. It is understood the vehicle was on a grass bank beside the road when the bank gave way.

"The driver was not trapped and was attended to by an ambulance crew."
