Finishing touches on Cameron Road

A small team is on site completing the finishing touches along Cameron Road.

"Rain in the past week caused delays to some of our planned works, which we expect to continue in the coming week," says a Tauranga City Council spokesperson.

"When it rains, works involving concrete, asphalt, excavation and painting can’t be completed."

In the coming weeks, the team will be installing decorative pavers in the shared path areas as part of the cultural design elements on Cameron Road.

"The stormwater works on Fourth Avenue west are now complete and the road open, with the exception of two car parks which will remain closed for final concrete works which we expect to complete in the coming days, weather dependent."

The project team completed the loop cutting works at the 17th Avenue intersection on Thursday night and work in this area is now complete.

Upcoming night works from 6pm to 6am include asphalt works at Sixth Avenue east and the First Avenue central median, as well as line marking. These works are expected to take one night and will be scheduled when weather allows.

Work to install permanent fences and timber posts at some of the mid-block pedestrian crossings is continuing.

A routine inspection of the completed works is also underway to ensure everything is functioning and operating as it should be.

"Once this is completed, we will know if there are any sections that need further attention,' says a council spokesperson.

"We thank you for your patience and understanding while these essential works are underway."

Great

Cameron Road looks great.

It sure took a long time, and I have my view on how I think they could have improved the staging to reduce the disruption to each business.

But for all that, the finished product is great.

I'd like to look forward to Stage 2 to Barkes Corner being finished. But I know the same old muppets will get back in as councilors and we'll go back to paralysis and lack of vision like the last 20 years.

Am I missing Something !!

A massive expense for a "crossing from the Warehouse to Pak n Save" Sorry but did not the the TCC just pay a fortune to buy the Warehouse building for a sports facility !!

Does the TCC really think that the users of their new sports facility are really going to WALK across Cameron Road to Pak N Save to shop and then WALK back across Cameron Road to the the EX warehouse complex with the big basket trolley of groceries!

What planet are these so called council "planners" really on !!!

Good to see the 2 workers in the photo are maintaining the high work rate of all the other workers on the Cameron Road project to ensure it wil be completed on time and on budget Must be dreaming 😀

Slow...ha

You sure might be slow but you save it by producing a rough and bottle necked solution to a problem no one had. Well done TCC and 15 minute cities.

@ Immediasres, I have no idea why you are blaming councillors when the truth is that the staff producing and planning the roading are never elected and stay there from term to term.
You are blaming the results on the wrong crowd, TCC staff are the ones that produce the recommendations and run the projects.

WHY

Posted on 04-03-2024 09:32 | By nerak

was the project not fully completed at the time it was in progress? You don't make a salad and wait weeks to add the dressing. Surely more cost effective to finish a job in one go, and maybe the two in the pic could have done their fence leaning and road gazing where we couldn't see what we're paying for.

Pretty to look at

And that’s about all.
Unfunctional to the nth degree.
Multiple traffic lights
5 cycle lanes. 4 for cars less the proposed bus lane when it arrives
Buses parking in cycle lanes so cyclists move into traffic lane (modal separation fail)
Bus stops in vehicle lane. Creating absolute havoc.

Pretty, but useless.
