MONDAY VETS:

It seemed that at last the Vets had a clear fine day to play the second qualifying round of their Match Play competition.

Fifty players came out to enjoy the conditions, and two of the lower handicappers topped the field, with Ross Fitness, and Allen Smith both having 71 nett.

Next on 72 were Shoneen Dunning and Bev Ireland, followed by Kaylene Croker, Brian Baynes, Terry Gerbich, Di Lockwood and Adrienne Lynch all on 73. John Libby scored the only two of the day.

TUESDAY NINE HOLERS:

The good weather continued for the nine hole weekly haggle which was a stableford competition.

Again a good sized field saw Vicky Knight continue her good form, as she and Lynda Thomson headed the field with both scoring 20 points.

Next were Jenni Mora, Margaret Hickey, Val McLoughlin, and Eleanor Koedyk, all with 19 points. On 18 points were Anne-Louise Erceg, Mandy Piper (Walton), and Glen Bennett.

WEDNESDAY LADIES:

Conditions drew out a good sized field for this week's nett competition.

The leading lady this week was Di Lewis with a nett 70, with Wendy Matutinovich next on 71. Sharon Deacon and Edna Connolly both had 73, while on 74 were Carol Leary, Denise McConnon, Rosalind Giffney, and Jane Wordley.

With nett 75's were Helen Baynes, Anke Hermannsdorfer, and Kathy Ashton. Carol Leary had two 2's. The 'Dreamers Player of the Week” was Di Lewis with her 70 nett.

THURSDAY MEATPACK OPEN TOURNAMENT:

This event postponed from last week enabled 54 players to contest the event this week.

Although a fine day, a cold and very strong wind made it pretty hard going for many players. This month the winner for the best gross was Murray Fraser with a 77, while the best nett was taken out Gary Dunning with a fine 68 nett, Rhys Peden blasted his way to 38 points for the best Stableford.

For the rest of the field in the stableford competition: In division 1, Terry Gerbich, and Wayne Brierley both had 37 points, with Wilson McGillivray had 35. Carol Leary, Kelly Exelby and the inevitable Brian Baynes all finished with 34.

In division 2, Peter Dagg and Mathew Guptill both scored 36 points, with Craig Sandlant next with 34. Following them were Peter Spiers (33), and Mike Rose (32).

SATURDAY GOLF:

After heavy overnight rain the course was deemed too wet to allow electric carts on the course, and thus reduced the number of players a little.

Also the extremely strong winds that were evident on Thursday again presented themselves (perhaps slightly stronger), which again made good scoring difficult.

LADIES:

The ladies played a qualifying matchplay nett haggle, and the leading score as by Catherine Blake with a nett 75. Next was Martine Milicich with 76, followed by Shoneen Dunning, and Jackie Robson both with 78, and then Kathy Ashton on 80.

MEN:

The competition of the day was a round of the par competition, and in the smaller than usual morning field Mark Mora returned to form to return a score of +1.

Next was Earl white on -1, ahead of Ken Purcell and Eddie Bruce, who both had -2, then Daryll Denyer with -4.

With a better forecast, a larger field contested the afternoon field, and Nic Davies was the top player with -1, with Kevan Stewart, and Francis Gascoigne next on -2.

Following them were Chris Pilmer, Rob Page, and John Drent all with -3, while on -4 were Damian Dunlop, Charles Gurr, David P. Campbell, and Mark Tomsett.
