Taine here long before Tane, according to Scots history

Peter Dey's insistence that Maori are the indigenous people of New Zealand is becoming ridiculous. Ships were circumnavigating the globe long before Maori landed here.
There is strong evidence of a tall, fair-skinned, red-haired race which is confirmed by reports in Scotland, of Taine Ruaridh Mhor who was delivered in three longships, to NZ in the 12th century with 95 kinfolk, including sons Rory and Raridh. Taine was sentenced to be banished to an uninhabited place by King Alexander I of Scotland who reigned 1107-1124 AD.

The insistence of some that Maori is NOT the indigenous people of New Zealand is worse than ridiculous. Maori were the ONLY people encountered in New Zealand, the ONLY people that were invaded and fought in New Zealand, and strong evidence of another race as per reports in Scotland, is less evidence than myth. The Patu Paiarehe are the only other people Maori encountered in NZ and any evidence should be from this source, and the fact that nobody else has ever seen or heard from the Patu Paiarehe, let alone seen their dwellings, evidence of living, and certainly not entered into a Treaty with them, to say that Maori are NOT indigenous is arrogant and downright inflammatory. When the people called Maori arrived here they came across a fair skinned red hair people who they called the Tangata whenua true meaning of the word (the ancient ones or the people before us) until it was change by these people called maori to mean themselves. We have ancient sites in New Zealand that are over 3000 years old they were never built by Maori but by these fair skinned people So Lisa you don't know what you are talking about. Ian
