A car has rolled into Pilot Bay at Mount Maunganui this afternoon.

Emergency services were called to the incident beside Salisbury Wharf at around 12.14pm.

A police spokesperson says the car was seen to go into the water, over the rocks.

"The occupants were helped out of the vehicle. They didn't receive any injuries, but were in shock."

The vehicle was towed out of the water at around 1.30pm.
