Motorcylist dies after Tauranga crash

A motorcyclist critically injured in a crash in Tauranga has died.

The man was rushed to Tauranga Hospital in critical condition following a crash on State Highway 36/Takitimu Drive just after 7pm.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash and appeal for any witnesses to come forward.

The crash closed the stretch for highway for several hours.

Diversions have since been lifted and the highway is now open.

People with information about the crash are asked to contact Tauranga Police Station on 07 577 43300.
