A passion for pizza is what led a Tauranga couple on a journey of love and success.

Tim and Elizabeth Miller met in a Dominos store in Christchurch and have taken their love on the road to Tauranga.

The couple first met in a Dominos store when Tim had moved down to Christchurch to study.

'I just got a part-time job at the Dominos next to the university there. Liz got employed while I was already working there and that is how we met.

'It was pretty much at the first staff party we saw each other and we have been together from there onwards.”

This November marks 10 years in the Dominos pizza business for Tim.

'I think Liz is eight years this year. I have worked at about 10-15 stores during my 10 years.

'I started in Hamilton as a driver. I was studying at the same time and decided studying wasn't for me, so I came back as a manager.”

Tim worked his way up the chain from driver at the age of 17, to assistant manager and then regional manager in Wellington before working to relocate the Lake Taupo store.

'That was a huge project. It was just this little store in the back of the town and now it's this huge store on the waterfront.

'From that is when we bought our first store, which was in Bethlehem.”

Tim and Elizabeth sold the store in Bethlehem and opened another Bureta.

To say thank you for the support of the community, the couple are hosting a free pizza day at the Bureta store.

'Today is to say thank you to all the people who have shopped with us so far,” says Tim.

'We've had an extremely warm welcome since we opened here at the end of February.

'We thought what better way to celebrate the establishment of our new store than to throw a pizza party and give something back to the community who've been so good to us since we arrived.”

People are welcome to join the couple from 12-2pm today.
