Head-on truck crash near Te Puke

UPDATED 2.30PM: The section of Te Puke Highway which was closed following a head-on crash between a truck and a motorhome this morning has now been re-opened.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says police are now letting motorists travel through the scene of the crash which occurred between Rangiuru and Pah roads shortly before 10am.

Motorists are being thanked for their patience today.

EARLIER:

A police spokesperson says Te Puke Highway near Rangiuru Road is expected to be closed until 2.30pm today.

A section of the road was closed following a head-on crash betwen a truck and a motorhome shortly before 10am.

The crash left one person with serious injuries.

A diversion around the crash remains in place along Brown Road into Mark Road, through to Te Matai Road.

EARLIER:

One person is seriously injuried following a head-on crash with a truck and motorhome near Te Puke.

The crash is located on Te Puke Highway, near Rangiuru Road.

A Northern Fire Communications spokesperson says the highway is completely blocked and expects diversion to be put in place soon.

"Police, fire and ambulance are currently in attendance at the scene. One person has suffered serious injuries in the crash," says a statement from police.

Motorists are asked to avoid the area and use the following diversions; Brown Road into Mark Road, through to Te Matai Road.

Reports are coming in of a two truck crash near Te Puke.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says two trucks have crashed head-on on Te Puke Higway, past Raniguru Road.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the scene and use an alternative route as emergency services deal with the crash.

Well done for obscuring the markings on the truck and the general public. I hope those involved will be ok
