Car crashes and bursts into flames

UPDATED 7.47AM: A car burst into flames after crashing on Te Puna Road this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 6.56am, after the car crashed near the railway tracks.

A policespokeserson says it's their understanding that no one was in the vehicle when it caught fire.

"One person was injured in the crash and sustained moderate injuries.

"They were to be transported to hospital by ambulance."

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

Reports are coming in of a crash in Te Puna this morning.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says the driver of the vehicle has managed to get out of the car.

The crash is reported to be on Te Puna Road.

Emermgency services have been called to the scene.
