MOWLE, Rosalind Jean

My Darling Rosalind died suddenly in Tauranga Hospital on Sunday 15th January 2017, despite tremendous and loving efforts made by the Staff. Rosalind was born on the Isle of Portland in Dorset, England on the 4th May 1926. She was brought up there with its cliffs, pebble beach and Portland stone quarries and an ancient civilisation. She attended Weymouth Grammar School and in 1940 at age 14 she became an ARP messenger, surviving many air raids. In 1944 she joined the WRNS Fleet Air Arm and after approx. two years' service, and a small break, joined the WAAF. I met Rosalind when in the RAF. We married on our discharge from the Force on 1st. Sept. 1948. When at school she was a Girl Guide, winning a citation for saving a boy from drowning at sea.

'Rosalind was the joy, inspiration and love of my life”. Keith
