The Solomon Islands has been rocked again with a magnitude 6.9 earthquake striking just off the coastline.
The quake struck 90 kilometres west south west of Kirakira at a depth of 10km at 8.44am NZT, and comes just a day after a 7.8 earthquake destroyed homes and triggered a tsunami warning.
The United States Geological Survey initially reported it as a 7.0 magnitude earthquake but has since downgraded it to 6.9.
The Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management says there is no tsunami threat to New Zealand following the 7.0m earthquake.
