Entertaining six children for a day resulted in a rainbow house for Steven and Debbies Miles at Papamoa.
The children started on the concrete path, and then moved onto the walls.
'Then they said, ‘Dad, we need more chalk,” says Steve.
It was the first of three trips to The Warehouse for another $3 bucket of chalk.
'It will just wash off, but obviously it hasn't. At the end of the day it's a fun thing for the kids. They have had a good time. Later on might have to water blast a bit off if it doesn't wash off, no big deal.”
Colouring every brick on the house took about a day and a half, but they didn't stop there.
'By the end of the day the letter box was done, all the posts in the garden were done,” says Debbie.
They chalked some of the footpath and a bit of the road before a nieghbour complained that people wouldn't appreciated the chalk going on their tyres.
