Delays likely after SH25 underslip

The New Zealand Transport Agency is warning motorists to expect delays on State Highway 25 just south of Coromandel township due to an underslip.

One lane of the road is currently closed and stop/go traffic management is in place following the slip below the highway which occurred at 4pm on Wednesday.

The NZTA says the road is now closed to trucks and other heavy vehicles, which could cause more movement at the site. Heavy vehicles can use SH25A as an alternative route.

Geotechnical experts are assessing the site today and a further update will be issued following the inspection.
