Car in ditch in Bureta

UPDATED: Police are taking no action after a car slid off the road and into a ditch in Bureta.

The driver of a car descending Grange Road lost control on the bend into Vale Street and slid into the ditch alongside the golf course this afternoon.

'The driver of the car wasn't speeding, when the car began to slide in the greasy conditions, says a witness at the scene.

The vehicle left the road and slid into the ditch. The driver and sole occupant was not injured.

Earlier:

A red car has rolled down a bank in Bureta this afternoon.

It's unclear how the car came to be in the ditch and police are at the scene speaking with the driver and witnesses.

The driver is being checked over by St John Paramedics, but not serious injuries have been reported.

Maybe, but potentially more disastrous and not acceptable, the latter also applies to car drivers. At least Ken Shirley, chief executive of the Road Transport Forum, has not minced his words when chastising the driving habits and lack of ability of many truck drivers. Good to see someone in authority not ducking for cover over the issue.

That's a sharp corner. "Greasy" my eye. Going too fast. Let off because in NZ taking corners too quickly is ok.

I drove here about 30 minutes prior and had no concerns. What on earth is going on? Had to be speed and/or poor tyres. Fine them
