'There is always a great atmosphere and the turnout is great, considering the pouring rain,” says Murray Reid, president of Tauranga's Multicultural Festival of this year's event.

Held for the 17th time the Festival offers something for everyone in song, dance, and food. Lots of different ethnic foods are on offer, though, Murray suspects the western foods are the most popular of all that is on offer.

Together with 25 foodstalls, 13 arts and crafts displays, and the presence of 24 service providers the festival's 25 performing group guarantee a colourful display of sights, sounds and smells.

'The festival gets bigger every year. As soon as we release the first information for the next festival we see people eager to know more.” He is confident the Festival will go from strength to strength each coming year.

The festival continues on until 4 pm today at the Historic Village, 17th Ave, Tauranga.
