Police investigate woman’s death

Police investigating the death of Fai Deane on January 30 are continuing to make steady progress with their inquiries.

Detective Senior Sergeant Matt Cranshaw of Taupo Area CIB, says a number of people have been interviewed as part of the investigation.

Fai Deane died on Saturday, January 30, after power was cut to her Taupo Flat.

Inquiries include looking into Fai's medical background and the actions of a driver who crashed into a power pole in the area prior to her death.

Fai appears to have died after her home installed ventilator failed when power was cut in the area.

'This is a detailed investigation with a number of complex aspects that need to be examined and resolved before we can make a determination as to the exact circumstances of Fai's death.

'Until those inquiries are completed, we won't be in a position to determine what, if any, further police action may follow,” says Matt.

'However, the community can be assured that we are making good progress on our investigation into Fai's death and are continuing to work hard to find answers as to how and why it occurred.”
