Good planning and team work worked towards New Zealand dominating this year's Enzed 2016 UIM Jetsprint World Championships in Tauranga.
Nine of the 10 top positions were filled with Kiwi teams, with Altherm Jetsprint Team of Glen Head and navigator Darryn Todd taking top honours at ASB Baypark Stadium at the weekend.
Thunderstorms rolled in over Baypark as jetsprints roared around the track. Video by Rick Waddicor.
Glen is rapt with his team's performance.
'Everyone in our team work their behinds off and to get this result for us and our sponsors is just absolutely massive.”
The driver says he's impressed with his navigator's performance over the weekend.
'Toddy he's the dream navigator, he's my best mate, he's my neighbour and we're the best in the world.”
He says it's a dream come true to take the title especially on New Zealand soil.
'Yeah mate, it's a bloody good feeling. The whole two weeks has just gone absolutely to plan for us and to win it's wicked mate, we're just rapt.”
Glen and Darren's total score was 60 points followed by Peter Caughey and Shama Puturanui 50.5 points, Aaron Hansen and Julie-Anne Shanks 48 points, Jamie Welch and Joel Padge were the only non-Kiwi featuring in the top 10 with 46.66.
Fifth spot is shared by jet boat teams Richard Burt and Clare Roberts and Phonsy Mullan and Tony Iremonger.
