Ham bacteria traces 'negligible'

Premier Beehive NZ has received test results confirming that traces of bacteria in its recalled shaved champagne ham are negligible.

The company undertook a voluntary product recall on a single batch of the ham earlier this week.

Beehive shaved champagne ham is being recalled.

The voluntary recall was undertaken as a precaution when routine testing revealed irregular test results for the bacteria, listeria, in a batch of the 200g Family Pack with a Use by Date of 26 January 2016 (Batch 335322).

The recall does not affect any other Beehive products.

'Beehive immediately retrieved 99 per cent of the affected product. There have been no reports of illness,” says a statement from the company.

'The safety and quality of Beehive products are a priority for the company. Beehive followed its product recall procedures consistent with maintaining the highest possible standards of safety and product quality and has been working closely with New Zealand's food safety authorities.”

Beehive apologises for any inconvenience caused by this recall.

Any person concerned about their health should seek medical advice or they can call Beehive on 0800 506 701.
