Bay chase cricket title

The Bay of Plenty Senior Secondary Schoolgirls team will be one of the favourites after top class performances in recent seasons.

The team will play at the ND Tournament at Fergusson Park in Tauranga this week.

Bay of Plenty won the ND title in 2013 and could be considered unlucky not to win back to back titles last year, when they tied with Northland, but lost the title to the team from the Far North on countback.

Experience in spades will be provided in the Bay side, with five of the 2015 players having Bay of Plenty Senior Women's team experience.

Bay of Plenty captain Brianna Perry, along with Macy Adams, Nensi Patel, Holly Topp and Tanieka Uerata all earned Bay of Plenty Women's first team selection last season.

There were a multitude of highlights for the Bay of Plenty representatives at last year's tournament, led by Brianna Perry, taking out the Bowling Trophy with 10 wickets.

Tauranga Intermediate all-rounder Nensi Patel also figured on the bowling honours, with five wickets which placed her in sixth equal place.

Brianna Perry was the best all rounder at the tournament, after finishing in third place with 122 runs in the batting stakes. Holley Topp also broke through the 100 run mark while Nensi Patel posted 66 runs to her name.
