Broadband rollout near completion

The Government's broadband rollout has reached 88 per cent completion, meaning more people now have access to high speed broadband.

As part of the rollout, the Government launched an online map that allowed Kiwis to source the best broadband options available to them.

'Kiwis are now looking to have access to information anywhere, anytime and anyhow,” says Communications Minister Amy Adams.

'Our UFB and RBI programmes are charging ahead and this map gives New Zealanders a one-stop shop where they can go to find out what services are available to them at their address and how they can connect.”

The broadband map has been provided by the NZRS Ltd, the service delivery subsidiary of InternetNZ, and will also display when ultra-fast broadband or rural broadband coverage would be going to a particular area.

Bay of Plenty MP Todd Muller says the Bay is experiencing significant growth 'and it's great that infrastructure investment is keeping pace”.

'I am delighted that Oropi has a new mobile tower and the Ultra-Fast Broadband build is Tauranga has reached 90 per cent completion, meaning 45,500 users are able to connect to UFB.

'Fast broadband is enabling unprecedented economic opportunities for regional New Zealanders. It enables business to better connect with markets and customers both here and overseas while enjoying the lifestyle benefits of living outside the main centres.”

Shame this is not available in Omanawa, it's quicker to go to the library and look up a book. Pathetic speed , how are we supposed to run a business on these speeds. All we get from spark is congestion on line !!! 24 hours a day ??? Wake up spark and sort this problem out.
