Hello Sailor cancel national tour

Kiwi legends Hello Sailor have been forced to cancel their 40th Anniversary Tour after frontman Graham Brazier suffered a heart attack last week.

The 62-year-old musician was on holiday in the Bay of Islands when he suffered his heart attack on July 29, and was flown to Auckland hospital where he underwent emergency procedures.

Graham is said to be in a stable condition and expected to recover, but the recuperation period means the tour cannot go ahead as planned.

Hello Sailor guitarist Harry Lyon says Graham and the band were all looking forward to the tour.

'We wish our mate a speedy recovery and trust we can get Hello Sailor back on the road again in the future once he is better.”

A full refund will be available to everyone who purchased tickets for Hello Sailor's Tauranga show on September 9.

Promoter Brent Eccles says everyone involved with the tour are all really shocked by the incident.

'Because Graham will not be able to perform while he recuperates we have all decided to try and raise some money to get he and his family through a very, very difficult time.”

Brent says the planned Auckland show at The Powerstation on September 18 will also now become a benefit concert to raise money for Graham and his family while he recuperates.

'This event will now become a fund raiser for Graham with the full line-up of performers to be announced shortly.

'But we are expecting all the musicians set for the tour, will perform at the fundraiser in some way.”

Tauranga fans who would like to help will also have the option to contribute the price of their tickets to Graham by way of a donation.

To claim your refund call Ticketmaster on: 0800-111-999. Ticket holders are asked to claim their refund by Friday, August 21.
