Rudd back in court today

Former AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd is set to appear in Tauranga District Court this morning, and will enter a plea on a charge of breaching the terms of his home detention sentence by drinking alcohol at his home.

The 61-year-old will appear following his arrest by police on July 18.

The arrest came less than two weeks after he was sentenced to eight months' home detention on charges of threatening to kill as well as possession of methamphetamine and cannabis.

On the second Saturday night of the sentence he was taken from his Harbourside Drive home by police and spent the remainder of the weekend in the police cells.

He appeared in court the following Monday and was granted bail under the same house arrest conditions.

During sentencing he was warned by Judge Thomas Ingram that a home detention sentence is a substitute for jail, and that if he cannot keep to the home detention conditions, then jail would be the alternative.
