Mount Hot Pools soak ‘n sound

The Mount Hot Pools have got the perfect way for all you busy locals to unwind after a hard day at work.

Every Thursday night during the month of August, the hot pools will show one of four concerts on a big screen provided by Bay Audio Visual as part of their Soak ‘n' Sounds events.

The first three concerts to be screened at the hot pools, and in the order they appear, will be: The Eagles' Hell Freezes Over, Fleetwood Mac's The Dance, and Pink Floyd's Pulse. The fourth and final concert will be a ‘Viewers' Choice'.

Centre manager Matthew Strange says they've been looking at different initiatives to bring people down the hot pools.

'Personally, I couldn't think of anything cooler than kicking back in the hot pools while listening to awesome music and watching a concert on a big screen,” says Matthew.

'We don't expect people just to come, we want to give them a reason to pop down, and when I shared the idea with my colleague they all thought it was a pretty cool.”

Everyone who heads down to the pools for Soak ‘n' Sounds will have four concerts to select from for the Viewers' Choice screening on August 26.

But Matthew says they're keeping those concerts as a surprise and to find out what they are you'll have to head along to the first three screening.

'Also, at the end of each screening everyone will go into a draw and one lucky person will win a DVD of the concert we play that night.”

Matthew says this is the start of potentially similar initiatives and if people do like the idea they should come down and support the screenings.

'What better way is there to finish off a hard day at work than kicking back and soaking in the sounds?”

The Mount Hot Pool's Soak n Sounds concert screenings will take place every Thursday night during August, from 7pm. For more information visit: www.mounthotpools.co.nz

Too expensive

Sorry.... Having sold the idea to my family, I realize that I cannot use our Tect card, and seeing as we're not tauranga residents it will cost us over $30. No more hot pools for us!

Cheaper fees = more users

When will these organizations start understanding that the cheaper the costs, the more users they will have! Toll roads, cinemas, activity centers (including the local swimming pools). Isn't that just common sense?

Is this the only way they can get people to go to the place?

Too bloody expensive!

I have to agree with Ellajj above. I really want to go also but the cost has become prohibitive for families and groups of local teenagers. There should be a 'local' rate not tied to living in Tauranga or the Mt. We used to go regularly and would go more often if you just made the price more realistically achievable!
