Rallying together for school drive

Three very excited, very lucky St Thomas Moore Catholic School students got the ride of their lives to the Mount Maunganui institute this morning, thanks to Motorsport BOP.

Seven-year-old twins Aidan and Jake Bollee, and their 10-year-old brother Mason, were picked up from their home in Papamoa by three rally cars, driven by Matt Hayward, Phil Campbell and Dave Loughlin.

The trio had been randomly selected via radio competitions as part of a promotion for Motorsport Bay of Plenty's Clubman's Rally this Sunday at TECT All Terrain Park.

The pupils were then delivered safely to school just after 8am to a crowd of their peers, who were equally as thrilled to see their classmates arrive in style.

SunLive was there to the capture the action, but two of the three boys were so excited to tell their friends all about it, that only Aidan remained for a snap with driver Matt.

'The whole school was there,” says Matt. 'It was fun!”

The rally this weekend, held on the roads around the TECT All Terrain Park, is a fun event, open to drivers of all experience.

Matt says: 'It's a rally that's about getting those who haven't done it for a while, or do it for fun, or are just starting out to get in their cars to give it a go on closed roads.”
