Police were spotted in Maungantapu this morning following an armed police raid at a property last night.

Several officers were seen filling out paper work as a motorbike and car were loaded onto a tow truck and taken away.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says this morning's operation follows on from an armed offenders' squad operation last night.

A scene guard was posted at the property overnight.

Along with detectives, police scene examination staff were at the address this morning.

SunLive was unable to get hold of police for comment.

This raid follows on from one in Te Puna earlier this week where a man was arrested for alleged drug offences.

Anthony Hennessey, 43, appeared in Tauranga District Court yesterday charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of precursor materials.

He was arrested after police searched a suspected P-lab. He has been remanded in custody and will appear in court on Monday.
