Policies to put money back in pockets

A number of policies coming into effect today will put more money into the pockets of Tauranga families.

This is the message from Tauranga MP Simon Bridges.

'Around 38,000 children under the age of 13 in the Bay of Plenty will have access to free GP visits and prescriptions,” says Simon.

'This policy will benefit more than 750,000 children across the country. We're committed to giving children the best start in life and that means ensuring they're able to go to the doctor any time of the day or night without their parents having to worry about the cost.”

Simon says families will also benefit from an increase in paid parental leave payments to $516.85 a week.

'If you own a car you are now paying up to $130 less a year to register a petrol car. For owners of diesel cars the saving is even greater – up to $170 a year. This will mean more money in the pocket for vehicle owners in our region,” adds Simon.

'In Budget 2015, we also signalled the ACC motor vehicle levy, which includes the annual licence and petrol levies, will likely drop again next year, saving vehicle owners on average a further $75 a year.”

This doesn't put money in anyone's pocket except GP's. The average home just cant afford to go to a doctor so there is no saving there at ll. In end result the Government is lining the pockets of doctors that's all.

tax us less

Why not tax us less and let us sort it? Instead, the govt steals from us in the form of taxes and then wants praise for giving some of our money back.

Re ACC car fees.

We were overcharged for years Simon and ACC became embarrassed by the amount of their surplus so the rip off is being returned and you make it out to be such a wonderful thing you have done. Not sucked in.

We don't believe you Simon. Your govt has proven it can't even figure out the rate of ACC levy due on each type of car. As a result I have to double check that you got it right on my car.

smiley Simon, we might see an article attached to you with a claim that you, personally, have achieved something for your constituents. I wont hold my breath though. A lot of people wont be affected by the gp visit policy, but maybe you would like to donate any 'savings' you might make taking your children to the gp by donating what you would have paid to charity. Were ACC levies too high in the first place???

Smaller trough

Too many MPs for starters and retired? MPs with ongoing benefits such as free/reduced travel. Travel without your partners or let them pay their full fare. Start taxing companies who use the veil of 'charitable organisation' such as Sanitarium, to pay no Tax. Start at the top Bridges, not the bottom and there will be more to go around!

Simon is a yes-man and does what his leader tells him. Loyal to his beloved leader, Key, but not to us.

3 months ago knowing that the new fee's were coming in I re-licenced my car for 3 months to take advantage of the new fee's. So as I sit here comparing the new fee's against the old, I notice that the old fee, for 12 months was $287.75, the new fee $241.54. The difference being $46.21. So where is the, as quoted by Simon,
