Fun and games for foodies

It'll be like a sports fixture - match play or match-racing - but it'll be played out in the kitchen.

Celebrity chef will go up against celebrity chef at this weekend's Seriously Good Food Show at Tauranga's ASB Arena.

Local chefs Trinity Wharf's Simon Green, Mount Bistro's Stephen Barry and Elizabeth Cafe's Andrew Targett will go head to head on stage at the Pak'n'Save Tri-Theatre.

They'll be given the same basic ingredients and then add their own razzle-dazzle competing against each other and the clock.

'It's a must see for Tauranga this year and is worth the door charge alone,” says organiser Dana Martin.

And in the grandstand, the 300 seat auditorium, Tauranga foodies will watch and learn and taste and critique.

More than 130 exhibitors will showcase their products, from Papamoa sausages to cheese and wine.

The Seriously Good Food Show is a seriously good opportunity to sample the best of the region's produce and preparation.

It runs Saturday and Sunday at ASB Arena, Baypark. Open 10am to 5pm daily.

Another added bonus this year is that all queuing will be indoors.

Organisers will have a queue management system in place making sure everyone is warm and dry on their way into the show.

'A special quick-queue system has been organised with extra ‘cash only queue' available when needed,” says Dana.

With the Foyer Cafe area hosting the queue, there'll be plenty of chance for your quick coffee fix before you enter.

The Seriously Good Food Show is now in its third year with and this year features the huge Tri-Theatre, with three stages, with live cooking & tasting all weekend.

'It not only looks good. But it will feel good, sound great and taste amazing.”
