UnitedFuture announces top ten

UnitedFuture candidates for Bay of Plenty and Tauranga electorates for the 2014 general election have claimed spots on the party's list.

Candidate for Bay of Plenty Ben Rickard is ranked number five on the list, while Tauranga candidate James Maxwell is number 11.

Ben, in his 30s, says he has a long involvement in community development in both United States and NZ.

He's on the committee of the Tauranga Boys' College Old Boys Association that connects former students worldwide with the school.

'I've always been an action orientated person. I believe that were stronger when people work together and support each other in communities.”

Ben's aim is to promote Tauranga and wider BOP as a hub for technology businesses.

'But in terms of my electorate the wider BOP area as a place to come and set up high tech, software or internet based businesses.

'We've got the people, we've got the infrastructure and the lifestyle and that really key for people in this industry.”

'That's what I would like to promote is that BOP is a great place to set up a business and help to strengthen communities here.”

Party candidate for Tauranga James Maxwell is a supermarket checkout operator and management trainee.
