Filming begins for vet’s reality show

A new TV show following a Tauranga veterinary clinic and wildlife centre as it treats pets and injured wildlife is set to screen next year.

Filming is underway today at Holistic Vets in Fraser Street for the upcoming series titled ‘MAD Vets 24/7…Making a Difference' which will feature the treatment of pets inside the clinic and injured wildlife through the ARRC Wildlife Centre.

Director Liza Schneider is thrilled to confirm the show, after working with Stonewall Productions for a few months.

'It's going to go to air in March. So at the moment we're doing our filming, and once it's done and edited it will go on air.”

She says the weekly 30 minute episodes will focus on the daily events at ARRC and Holistic Vets.

'Each week will explore the stories of animals whose lives have been transformed by the innovative treatment options used by ‘X Vets' as well as showcase our beautiful native wildlife that benefit from this veterinary care.

'It is so neat, there are such exciting things that are going to happen.”

This morning camera crews filmed at the clinic and will go with Liza as she visits a series of farms this afternoon. Filming will take place every Wednesday and Friday for a number of weeks.

The show will broadcast to a potential audience of 1 million, airing on TV Central, TV Rotorua and nationwide on SKY Cue 110.

Liza hopes animal lovers everywhere will fall in love with the show as it 'inspires, educates, entertains and uplifts”.

Holistic Vets aim to be a veterinary clinic with a difference – providing a unique quality service in the animal healthcare industry. They are leaders in the field, integrating the advantages of conventional veterinary medicine and surgery with complementary and natural therapies.

ARRC Wildlife Centre was established in 2003 by Liza after discussions with The Department of Conservation to identify areas where voluntary veterinary expertise could be of assistance in treating and rehabilitating native wildlife.

ARRC's team assists DOC, Rotorua and Tauranga SPCAs and the public with the rescue and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife in the Bay region.

ARRC is also proactive with animal related projects such as the ‘ARRC Spay the Stray Cat Campaign' and the ‘ARRC Adopt a Pet Programme'.

Stonewall Productions is an independent production company with seven years' experience in the TV industry. It has a strong focus on human rights, animal rights/welfare, and environmental issues.
