Homes in the Lower Kaimai area are without power this morning following a transformer fire near Old Kaimai Road.
Greerton Fire Brigade were called to the fire around 6.40am.
Northern Fire Communications shift manager Jaron Phillips says the fire was out when the brigade arrived.
'There has been a fire but that is now out. Residents in the area are without power.”
He says Powerco has been advised of the fault and contractors have been called to restore power to the area.
