A woman was airlifted to hospital this morning after suffering from a critical asthma attack.

Just before 8.30am emergency services attended to a 26-year-old woman suffering a severe asthma attack at a Ruatahuna property.

St John officers from Murupara stabilised the woman until the Rotorua based Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter arrived.

Bay Trust Rescue Helicopter pilot Art Kowalski says the woman was airlifted to Rotorua Hospital for additional treatment and observation.
