Racial face-off for Tauranga

Former Act Party campaign head John Ansell's Treatygate/Colourblind State campaign is set to get off to a rocky start with Maori protestors set to march his Tauranga meeting on Monday.

The controversial adman and former marketing head of the Act Party is holding a meeting at the Hotel Armitage on Monday evening to discuss the campaign aimed at ending Maori seats in Parliament and the Waitangi Tribunal.

John Ansell is holding a meeting at Hotel Armitage on Monday.

A supporter, who declined to be named, says police have informed John that 150 Maori protestors are expected to turn up at the meeting. He is unsure how police found out about the protest.

The first meeting on the movement takes place at Auckland's Greenlane Christian Centre tomorrow at 3.15pm, while the spokesman says meetings have also been organised for Paraparaumu and Wellington on November 14 and 15 respectively.

Regional and national media have been briefed on developments regarding Monday's meeting, which begins at 6.30pm.

In his own unique way, John summed up the message he will be delivering during the next few days.

'I will be asking the descendants of those who defeated the rebels who breached the Treaty, whether they are happy paying reparations to the descendants of the rebels.

'I will be showing them how the words of the Treaty have been twisted to enable griever Maori to demand, and appease Pakeha governments to surrender, much of the country that their forefathers built.

'I will be pointing out that most Treaty settlements were concluded fully and finally by 1947, and yet still the grievers come back for more, and still the appeasers keep paying.”

John says Treatygate is a con, perpetrated on New Zealanders by political, bureaucratic, academic, judicial, legal, media and iwi elites for the last 40 years.

He plans to challenge ‘achiever Maori' to stand up to ‘griever Maori' who are 'robbing them of the respect of their countrymen”, and hopes to force the media to poll the public on whether they want all citizens to have equal rights, live under one law, vote on one roll and have their taxes spent according to need, not race.

'Once I have argued the case for clearing the racial road block, I will be focusing on the road - offering ideas on how New Zealanders can join together and be the world's most successful country, as we once were, and as our multi-racial rugby, softball and netball teams so often are,” says John.

I think this is a wonderful! Its about time we acted as one instead of constantly being divided by "race". This is a step in the right direction in my opinion!

NZ needs people like Mr Ansell

Totally agree with you John. But here in apartheid NZ, a person like yourself who wants equality for all races is bizarrely labeled a 'red neck' or 'racist' by the very race that is benefitting from all the racist favours and privileges!!! This is an orchestrated campaign by the maori to keep their racist 'elite status'. As my old grandmother always used to say..."attack is the best defence!" Shame on all the maori that want to keep their undeserved racist privileges at the expense of their neighbours, friends, workmates, sportsteam mates and all other kiwis who are guilty of not having maori blood. John, I hope you try for parliament as I don't care about your environmental policies, your financial policies, your transport policies or any policies. I will vote for you purely and simply on your anti-apartheid policy before NZ slips into a third world abyss, because that is our path at the moment.

Protests rather than join the factual debate, no surprises there.

someone with big "cajones" airing some hard facts, I stated months ago that there was a wave of "over it" syndrome sweeping across the country, and it is sad that Maori are slowly eroding respect that they had from most New Zealanders!!., protest all you want, but we have rights too, and you can not continue getting tax dollars from both ends of the carrot, the welfare system and treaty payouts, get over it and move on.

Face Off

Finally someone has got the nous & gonads to finally make a stand on this issue. As a person who grew up in the 50's & 60's, I remember so well the harmony amongst us all. I can boast that Maori of my era are still more than welcome in my home, as much as I'm sure I am welcome in theirs. We have had a succession of gutless politicians 'cow towing' to every iwi demand for too bloody long. Build a bridge and just get over it! These actions of grab, snatch & take by maori have just created a massive void in the once harmonious way of life of yesteryear.

Your response is so typical of a privileged group about to be exposed as racist beneficiaries of the NZ tax payers. I detect a threat in your comment. What will be next..."don't go or we will bash you"? We have heard nothing but radical racist maori "free speech" for years, now we want a turn at free speech and you will protest and intimidate us. The sun is setting on your racist free ride in apartheid NZ. Lots of Maori and us non-Maori have had enough. You are owed nothing. The treaty gravy trains long ride is nearly over. We have put up with radical racist maori for too long and you feel threatened because you racist privileges are coming to an end. No doubt everyone who turns up will have the words "red neck" and "racist" thrown at them, but this tactic does not wash anymore. How can I be a 'red neck' or 'racist' when I want no race based privileges in NZ? Well Duh?!! You are a racist hypocrite living in the wrong country in the wrong century.

Racist protestors

Posted on 10-11-2012 20:11 | By Mike Kuipers von Lande

This meeting is intended to highlight the racism of Maori grievance that has become endemic in our country over the last 30 years. Those who intend to protest the meeting are guilty of racism akin to the Afrikaaner movement that existed in SA prior to the ending of Apartheid. We need to end our Apartheid scheme too. But don't expect Maori to give up their immoral privileges easily.

All EM's should attend ...

Posted on 11-11-2012 13:35 | By Murray.Guy

All of this region's elected members (community representatives) and senior staff (public servants?) hopefully will attend, as I intend to. Our role requires us to make informed decisions, to listen to all sides of a debate, to respect democratic rights and processes. Unfortunately, as noted with most issues of significance to our community (eg: sirens), those who express an opinion, listen to an opinion, contrary to the 'approved direction' will attract abuse and intimidation.

FYI I am white middle class. Making threats?!? Give me a break. You are you bunch of racist red-necks make a habit out of exposing everything bad about Maori. Well, anyone attending this meeting on Monday will be exposed on various news and social media sites. Threat? Nah, just my belief that the public need to know who you people are.

ENLIGHTENMENT

Posted on 11-11-2012 18:10 | By PLONKER

many complain about the content of a meeting that is yet to occur. Interstingly no one knew in advance of the Maori version of the same a few months ago. So much for free speech, open and democracy and all that. Perhaps if it was called a Hui then the attitude of some to an open frank discussion would indeed be a bit different. PS the Witangi Tribunal would likely front up for the cost of all the refreshments then to.

@WSTAKL

Posted on 11-11-2012 20:41 | By Captain Sensible

@WSTAKL; Thanks for proving me 100% correct with my prediction and summary of yourself. BTW, care to let us into your logic or thought process when people who are against racist privileges are labelled 'racists' and 'red necks' by the racists enjoying those privileges!!!!! I look forward to your explanation....but I predict your answer will be emotional and, well, not really an explanation at all.

Shame on you WSTAKL

Posted on 11-11-2012 21:11 | By Major Think

Shame on you WSTAKL! My family and I are racially discriminated against every day! We are not elligible for the NZ maori rugby team, can't get "customary permits" to take excess and undersized seafood, not allowed into the Maori ward in the hospital, not elligible for Government issued maori grants/scholarships, unable to try out for maori sports awards etc etc etc, yet, we are expected to pay for all these racist perks only given to maori! Your promised intimidation towards anyone going to the meeting of free speech has just made me decide that I will definitely be going! Maori have had their hands out for years demanding this and that. The demands for water has woken an apathetic sleeping giant. I hope Mr Ansell tries for parliament where he can oppose the racist maori party on every issue.

MAJOR THINK

Posted on 12-11-2012 10:14 | By YOGI

Welcome to the real world of preference and prejudices, segregation based upon colour of ones skin is actually meant to be against the human rights act yet we find the situation of a trickle of Maori blood of the likes of 1/4, 1/8 and so on being the means to get the hand iin the cookie jar. I read an article about this from last week, I think that "IF" (that is huge of course) there are any entitlements based on colour/blood lines then all should be as a % of blood within otherwise we can all pick a IWI and away we go to.

...Two of the best posts on this blog so far, well done on saying what the rest of us are thinking!!!!!! I too would vote for John if he ever ran for parliment. @ WSTAKL your threats will, unfortunately, fall on deaf ears.

yeah mate that is it, I would vote for John to, was there tonight, a good bloke, he would indeed be better than any politician that we have now, at least he will do what he says he will do.

The best solution

Posted on 13-11-2012 10:38 | By kiwisan

Is to have both Maori and Pakeha doing well. I like his ideas. You see the people who do nothing because they expect they will be left an inheritance one day(never enough)....so they do nothing to create wealth...just sit and wait. That is what is happening now ..they sit and wait because they know it will come ,unfortunately it is never enough and it seldom reaches them. Sitting ,waiting and whinging. Don't worry plenty of white folk do the same (just from family members though) While the knowledge that there will be more $ still there exists nobody will move on. Kind of like feeding the seaguls chips...seems like a good idea but is it longer term when there offspring no nothing more than waiting for chips!

One nation.....

Posted on 14-11-2012 22:54 | By Vaughn

one people... I just wish "one politician" (maybe Mr Ansell...??) would grow a set, stand up put and end to all the arguing backwards and forwards. If we don`t stop handing over money etc and get along to work together we "will" end up a 2nd (or 3rd) world country. About time someone put there hand up to be voted in as the prime minister and kicked it all to touch, for good!

HANDING OVER MONEY

Posted on 15-11-2012 15:47 | By YOGI

All that has done to date is create an expectation running to a demand of "more" and ever increasingly generous claims. At the end of the day this all creates a very bad expectation of the part of the population receiving these payments and an desire of others to emulate. To date that has not created anythign of benefit, in fact one can show the education, health and NZ Police statistics recognise that "nothing has changed" so throwing money directly at it will solve nothing. Better to educate the parents to be better parents and so then have a higher expectation of their children to achieve more, more often and so be the best they can.

@ VAUGHN

Posted on 17-11-2012 19:10 | By PLONKER

Spine, they have none so the chances are slim for it to happen. The best chance is for the public at large to rise up and make the message clear, then all politicians will in an instance all fall into line. It is called "self preservation".

Rednecks

Posted on 18-11-2012 11:25 | By Papamoaner

Can somebody please define a Redneck? Is it a derogatory racist term? What is its origin? Is it actionable to call somebody that name? People like Tau Henare and that other fellow Hone with the infamouse sirname seem to use it a lot, but surely they wouldn't be racist - would they?

PAPAMOANER RENECKS?

Posted on 19-11-2012 12:02 | By YOGI

Normally this refers to southern US citizens who are rather strong willed and opinionated, perhaps also extenting to one eyed and racist, ignorant of others and the wider world. I believe that it is fair to say that the current use of it in NZ by some individuals is intented to be an attack personally and that is because there is no valid argument left so then resorting to personal atacked.

Racial Face-off

Posted on 04-12-2012 12:06 | By dclyle

While being 100% behind the views of Mr. Ansell concerning the Maori racial priviledes which are long overdue to end, I am concerned that we don't lose sight of the fact that many Maori also do not agree with these privileges and we do not say or do anything that puts them offside.

would be wonderful to become one. hard not to be "racist" when there are maori schools, hospital wards, fishing rights etc.they came to this land, conquered and killed to get what they wanted.we didn't do that and it was a sign of weakness that has plagued us from that time on.watch coastwatch, the court cases. they will never have enough.they will continue to sit back and demand instead of being proud of who they are and building their lives free of handouts.
