Wild weather keeps firefighters busy

Wild weather is keeping Tauranga firefighters busy with three weather related calls overnight.

Mount Maunganui firefighters were called to deal with a tarpaulin flapping on a building roof at about 7.30pm.


Firefighters recieved three call outs to weather related damage.

Firefighters removed the tarpaulin and used duct tape to make the repair.

Mount and Greerton firefighters were called to Welcome Bay Road about 10pm to deal with a tree blown over near the intersection with Reid Road.

Greeton Brigade was called as they carry a chainsaw which was used to cut up the macrocarpa tree and clear the road.

Tauranga firefighters were called to a Cliff Road apartment about 3am to secure part of a balcony that was in danger of being blown away by strong winds.
