Worldwide adventurer on the move

Travelling by the nickname Indiana June, cycling adventurer Diana Tansey is in the Bay of Plenty giving Blokarting a go after her online followers voted for her to do it.

'I've always said life is about the journey, not the destination – now I'm putting that philosophy to the test.”

Indiana June's travel blog invites people to vote what happens next in her real-life around the world adventure.

Followers worldwide have sent her zigzagging across Europe for everything from the crowning of a goat in Ireland to sleeping in a sandcastle in France.

Currently, Indiana is cycling from Wellington to Auckland and letting the public vote on what she does on her way to catch a flight to Buenos Aires on December 6.

Indiana came up with the concept for the travelling adventure by writing down a list of things she loves in life.

'I then came up with a way to combine them all at once.

'I'm a huge fan of spontaneous travel, meeting locals, hearing their stories and cycling from place to place at my own pace.”

She also aims to prove to women that cycling has no barriers.

A recent survey by British Cycling revealed women avoided cycling because of safety concerns, lack of knowledge of routes, and having no-one to cycle with.

'I hope to prove that these factors shouldn't stop you from getting on a bike and having fun.

'I hope to be on the road for up to a year, publishing stories, photos, drawings and videos along the way and anyone with a bicycle or an internet connection is welcome to join me.”
