SunLive's Facebook page has been messaged saying there is a dead whale at Otarawaiwere Bay between Whakatane and Ohope, but none of the official sources have been able to confirm this report so far.

On Friday, two adult Gray's beaked whales and a juvenile one stranded at Papamoa.

The juvenile whale died.

There was also a dead pygmy sperm whale found further down the beach towards the cut.
