Te Puke crash victim named

Zephyr Mark IV Araroa McGlaughlin is named as the 18-year-old Pukehina man who died in the head-on vehicle crash in Te Puke on Thursday.

He was a passenger in the light truck, which collided with a ute towing a ride-on lawnmower, at about 11am on State Highway 2.


The crash scene at the Waiari Stream Bridge, on the eastern edge of Te Puke.

Three other men were injured in the crash and they are all in a stable condition at Tauranga Hospital.

Bay of Plenty District Health Board communications manager Diana Marriott says all the men at the hospital are in the orthopaedic unit.

'They were admitted to our wards yesterday and are in a stable condition.”

Police investigations into the cause of the accident are continuing today with any witnesses being asked to contact the Tauranga Police Station.
