After an 11 day trial, a jury has handed Michael Colosimo guilty verdicts on both charges at a fraud trial.
Tauranga police detective Pete Sweeney released a statement saying Colosimo was handed the verdict just before 2pm on Saturday, September 3.
Michael Colosimo.
He says when the jury returned with their verdict, the public gallery was packed with supporters of the victims, Michael and Sue Dyke, as it had been in Colosimo's previous trials.
Pete says as the jury got up to leave the court room for the last time, the public gallery broke into a spontaneous round of applause for them.
Colosimo has been remanded on bail until October 11 for sentencing. As part of his bail conditions Colosimo was ordered to surrender his passport and is not allowed to leave the country.
Judge Rollo has asked for pre-sentence reports, including suitability for home detention, although he added that this doesn't necessarily mean he won't get a custodial sentence instead.

That was a loooong time coming. Finally he (hopefully) gets what he deserves. Shoulda been done years ago.'You can fool some people all the time; you can even fool all the people some of the time; but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.” A. Lincoln.
