Gas main hit in Judea crash

A car has crashed into a building on Birch Ave in Judea.

UPDATED: Witnesses of a crash in Judea allege the driver of a Subaru Legacy had hit a parked car and a pedestrian, before clipping the side of a building.

The station wagon hit the side of Plumbing Works on Birch Ave, rupturing a gas main in the process, before slamming into a ute parked in front of the building at about 2.45pm.

The two witnesses report seeing the station wagon 'come hooning around the corner” from Waihi Road and clip a car parked on the side of Birch Ave, before it came to a stop about 100m down the road.

They say while the station wagon stopped, people from some of the neighbouring businesses went outside to see what was happening.

'There must have been someone in the car it clipped cause it started to chase the station wagon, and when he saw the guy coming after him he took off and he hit someone as he was trying to get away,” the witnesses allege.

'But I don't know what happened because the station wagon then hit the side of the Plumbing Works building, before slamming into a ute parked out the front.”

According to the witnesses, a man had been sitting inside the parked ute at the time.

Two fire crews and St John ambulance staff were dispatched to the scene shortly after. Police are also currently in attendance and interviewing witnesses to the crash.

SunLive will update this story once details of the crash have been confirmed.
