Squash centre opening delayed

The opening of the Dame Susan Devoy Squash and Fitness Centre is delayed owing to wet weather.

Tauranga Squash Club president Gail Bingham says rain and cold weather has meant the concrete floors in the centre are not setting as quickly as planned for.

The new squash courts on the corner of 13th Avenue and Devonport Road under construction with the wet weather delaying its planned opening.

'Because the concrete is not setting, we are unable to put the court floor down,” says Gail.

The 200sqm ‘game court' is the main feature of the centre where three traditional squash courts can be converted into one space owing to moveable walls.

She says the new predicted date of opening is in September some time, which is 'very much behind schedule, but you can't predict the weather”.

Dame Susan sure is one of our Gems ... I used to enjoy a drinkie with her parents in Rotorua many moons ago. Now that is a family with real values and respect for each other and people in general. Geez ya would never ever have shown disrespect for Tui ... not ever in your wildest dreams. Great to see this wonderful facility with Susan's name on it. Very appropriate.

Get off the grass Nigel Barker syrupy sloppy sentimentality and harping back toward your 'adolescence' days in your mind ill becomes you.Stick with TCC bagging there is more mileage in it .When you know a bit more about the squash culture and these particular courts we will grant you speaking rights.

**When you know a bit more about the squash culture and these particular courts ** Tell us more so we too can be enlightened. Not healthy keeping it secret ~ surely you can see that by whats happening within TCC. It is healthy tho to give credit where 'one' ... in fact anyone ... thinks it is due. Its a shame that you see it as **TCC bagging ...**. One lives in hope that it is seen as intended "Constructive Criticism, Opinion & Comments" Any way, great to see this wonderful facility with Susan's name on it. Very appropriate. Hope the week ahead is all that you want it to be. Cheers

Nigel Barker .Sorry it would take a fair bit of time to enlighten you.Sure give credit where credit is due but please be objective and make sure you have the right handle on it.Your rose coloured views on the Squash Courts are a little wide of the mark. One small tip your 'constructive' criticism of TCC while it is on the money it needs more than hot air so take some positive practical action to supplement the words otherwise it is doomed to failure.
