Two vehicles are badly damaged this morning after a Sunday night car smash, which forced the closure of Dickson Road for about an hour.
One vehicle flipped onto its roof at about 4.45pm after emergency services say its driver smashed into a parked car on Dickson Road.

The owner of the parked car was at his brother's home nearby.

Papamoa fire chief, Allan Bicker, says a 20 year old man driving the red Nissan sedan was out of the car when they arrived.
'He wasn't really injured, but he was a bit dazed,” says Allan.
'He was waiting on the roadside – he didn't have any cuts or anything.”
Fire fighters closed the road near the crash scene, located on Dickson Road between Longview Drive and Grant Place.
The young driver told fire fighters he crashed after being hit by bad sun strike as he was adjusting the volume on his stereo.
'We drove in the same direction as him down Dickson Road and it was quite hard to see,” says Allan.
Kelvin Conder, the man who owns the damaged parked car, had only just arrived at brother Russell's home for dinner when the crash occurred.
Russell told SunLive they heard a loud smash and quickly ran outside.
'We wanted to make sure he was out just in case the car caught fire.”
Kelvin is trying to find a replacement vehicle this morning because the damage to his car made it unable to be driven.
'He (Kelvin) was more shocked than anything,” says Russell.
Tauranga police this morning are unaware if the man driving the red Nissan has been charged.
Allan says it does not appear alcohol was a factor.
'Ambulance staff said they couldn't smell alcohol on his breath.”
The man was taken to Tauranga Hospital with minor injuries but was discharged later Sunday night.
Dickson Road was reopened shortly after 6pm, once the flipped car had been towed away.
