One arrested following armed callout

UPDATED 4.30PM: Police have arrested one man following an armed incident at a rural property in the Lower Kaimai this morning.

In a media statement, police say they were at the property to execute an arrest warrant but had to call in the Armed Offenders Squad after officers were threatened on arrival.

The Fire Service also attended the incident after Police discovered a small fire in one of the buildings on the property.

"The matter was resolved without incident and occupants of the property are assisting Police with their enquiries," says police.

EARLIER:

Threats made to police executing an arrest warrant in a Lower Kaimai this morning lead to an armed offenders' callout.

Police say they are 'currently dealing with an incident at a rural property”.

'Officers were visiting the property to execute an arrest warrant this morning when they were threatened by the occupants and AOS were subsequently alerted,” police say in a statement.

"Fire Service are also in attendance as there is a small fire in one of the buildings on the property.

"The incident is contained at the address and there is no wider risk to the public. There is no further information available at this stage."

Police were initially called to the property around 8.30am.
