A post mortem examination to establish the cause of the baby's death has been completed and police are now waiting for the final results of that examination.

Inquiry head senior sergeant Greg Turner says the investigation is continuing as a "murder investigation"

The full results of the autopsy report are some time away, although preliminary results are expected sooner.

Greg says there's another week to ten days work in the investigation for the inquiry team.

'We are very interested in speaking to anyone who may be able to assist us. Now the name's out hopefully there's some people who may come forward. The key lies in the community,” says Greg.

Anyone who has information that will assist police with their investigation is being urged to contact Tauranga Police on (07) 577 4300.

I wish the police well on this case. I know that any case involving a young child is extremely harrowing for all involved. Let's hope that the scumbags that have taken a life have the balls to own-up to it and bring this to a very swift conclusion.
