Five locals cruised around the base of Mauao on Saturday, stopping traffic in the harbour entrance and skirting inside a trio of intrepid swimmers on a late-season lap.
After a bit of breakfast, chasing rays in and out of the rocks metres from the base track, they headed out around North Rock and were last seen blowing steam into the magnificent morning air around Moturiki Island.
