World beater in Taekwon-Do

Tauranga Girls' College student Kara Timmer is an ITF Taekwon-Do gold medalist after competing at the world championships this month.

She won five gold medals, a silver medal, and was named best female junior competitor.


Kara Timmer is a world champion.

She was first in ‘individual power' and first in ‘individual special techniques', which combined gave her the best overall junior female title.

In the team event, the New Zealanders won first in ‘team power', first in ‘team sparring' and second in ‘team patterns'.

She is a member of the Hwa Rang Taekwon-Do Club.
